Group Media Director (NYC)

We are looking for a Group Media Director to join our growing NYC office!

The Group Media Director will drive media strategy for all digital channel initiatives including direct partnerships, programmatic media buying, paid social, paid search and native programs while managing a team to consistently and successfully deliver the execution of cross-channel, integrated marketing programs. The Group Media Director is responsible for media account health and the overall media product across multiple clients and lines of business.  They will work diligently to oversee a consistent and innovative planning process that produces strong results for our clients.  This position requires that the candidate be a self-starter, extremely organized, detail oriented and highly motivated. The successful candidate will also possess the ability to effectively juggle multiple priorities while managing client expectations, timelines and coordination between various resources. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Drive innovation and  thought leadership for AMP’s Media Practice in tandem with GM of NYC office and senior leaders of Integrated Media Services team headquartered in Boston
  • Serve as senior media liaison between AMP NY and senior media leadership
  • Participation in bi-weekly, cross office media leadership meeting
  • Actively contribute original thinking and sound guidance to all media related programs
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables
  • Develop and/or approve direction of RFPs that lead publishers in devising innovative approaches to meeting campaign objectives and delivering value
  • Provide strategic project oversight for multiple campaigns at a given time
  • Stay on the forefront of industry trends, emerging channels and media technologies to inform internal partners and client teams
  • Assume responsibility for the growth and vitality of AMP NYC’s media practice and of your clients’ business
  • Partner with our Analytics team, and develop and utilize your own models, to predict performance and inform key decisions about the necessary media mix
  • Oversee media integration with traditional channels such as TV and incorporate traditional planning personnel into digital planning meetings
  • Partner with our Data Management team to oversee client data initiatives and custom audiences as applicable
  • Collaborate with additional internal and vendor partners including UX, Creative and Web Development as needed
  • Work with cross-functional departments to ensure flawless execution
  • Approve timelines and handle project management
  • Ensure accurate recording keeping and finances on accounts
  • Review final reconciliation of campaign and authorize client refunds if appropriate


  • Minimum of 7years of related digital media experience (traditional media experience is a plus)
  • Strong understanding of  both awareness and performance digital media channels and strategies, including display, mobile, video, paid search, programmatic and social media
  • Previous success  in the planning, development and management of digital media campaigns for brands or products
  • Experience with  DoubleClick and other 3rd party tracking solutions preferred
  • Experience with the following technology platforms preferred (Self-Serve Programmatic DSPs, DFA, Facebook UI/FBX)
  • Ability to analyze data and deeply understanding of measurement practices, 3rd party measurement companies and web analytics
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines while juggling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven client service orientation with strong written and verbal communication skills, including effective presentation skills
  • Ability to consistently perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment as an individual on a team
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated interest in keeping up with emerging technologies and digital marketing trends
  • Participation in agency business development initiatives
  • Working knowledge of traditional media channels a plus
  • Some travel required, anticipated to be between 10-20%
